Folsom Prison Blues mashed with Pinball Wizard!

Back in 1994 or so, I saw Gregory Dean Smalley perform this mashup at the Star Community Bar. I was floored. Greg was a force of supernatural proportions and he is missed. Many people have done it prior to me doing it. I guess it was always meant to be.

David Draper said it so well above that I’m going to quote him
“Amazing!!! This performance was my introduction to you yesterday and I am completely hooked after listening to a large number of your clips today. Am sharing with all my friends and family via all the usual means.

I think I figured out why I love and am transfixed by this artist: Yes he has a brilliant voice, yes he selects awesome musical gems that he interprets for us, yes his visual presentation both in dress and expression demand that we pay attention to him, subtle humor, and as George Harrison wrote in a song “Silence says much more than trying to say what’s been said before”. But beyond that, I think he knows he and his audience are on the same plane, partners in the act of performance. I detect no “I am an artist, so I am above you all, and I know better than you. I’m ‘sensitive’ ” Isee nothing but respect and good-natured ribbing. So rare in the entertainment business.

This is simply brilliant. Love the songs and the videos. Totally hooked.
And a suggestion/request… “Somewhere” in the style of the great PJ Proby… please.

I remember seeing Smalley sing this in a video aired on Comedy Central in the early 1990’s and it always stuck with me! I’ve sung it at parties and karaoke over the years. Always got a laugh! I’ve never been able to find his rendition. I’m glad Puddles has brought it back into popular culture!
